Replacement of missing teeth

Dental Implants
Implants are the perfect solution to replace one or more missing teeth. It is a metal screw made from titanium that is placed in the jaw bone. This serves the same function as the root of a tooth. A prosthetic tooth is then placed on the implant to replace the missing tooth.

Dental Bridges
This is sometimes called a fixed partial denture.  A bridge replaces missing teeth with artificial teeth. It is highly aesthetic and literally bridges the gap where one or more teeth have been removed. The bridge is cemented on teeth next to the gap and can only be removed by a dentist. Dental bridges can also be placed on implants.

Dentures
Dentures are false teeth made to replace missing teeth. These can be full or partial dentures. Full dentures cover your entire jaw, therefore replacing all your teeth. A partial denture replaces only one or a few teeth. Full dentures can also be placed on implants.

Teeth Restoration

Fillings
At Smile Connection Dental Studio we only place aesthetic tooth coloured composite fillings in our patients’ teeth. Composite fillings are an excellent way to fix cosmetic and structural imperfections. With composite fillings we can repair cracked, chipped and discoloured teeth as well as replace silver amalgam fillings.
Dr Eugene does not place amalgam fillings at all when repairing a tooth.

Crowns
For badly damaged teeth dental crowns can be an effective option.  The crown procedure utilise tooth shaped coverings made from porcelain to restore strength, aesthetics and eliminate discomfort. Crowns can be fixed to natural teeth as well as implants. At Smile Connection Dental Studio we make use of aesthetic porcelain crowns at all times.

Veneers
Veneers are thin tooth coloured shells made from porcelain, ceramic or composite material.  These shells are ‘cemented’ to the front surface of teeth to improve their cosmetic appearance.  Veneers are used to improve the aesthetics of stained teeth, damaged teeth, and crooked teeth and to close gaps between teeth.

Teeth Whitening

Bleaching is a common method to whiten your teeth. This procedure can be performed by Dr Eugene in the surgery. The duration of the teeth whitening procedure is +/- 90 minutes. This is a simple yet effective cosmetic procedure and can take years of your appearance.

Root Canal Treatment

This process is carried out in the roots of a tooth. Normally the canal in a tooth root contains nerves and blood vessels.  Once the nerves and blood vessels die (usually due to bacterial contamination or trauma), the nerves and blood vessels are removed and the canals cleaned and sealed. After root canal treatment the tooth is usually repaired with a crown.

Preventative Dentistry

Dr Eugene will help to improve your long term oral health by taking positive steps to prevent tooth decay and gum disease.  Prevention rather than waiting for problems to occur is of paramount importance here at Smile Connection Dental Studio. This approach means that where possible treatment is kept at a minimum or even eliminated.

Laser Dentistry

Smile Connection Dental Studio is part of the exciting field of laser dentistry. The intricate role of lasers in the medical field of eye surgery is common knowledge to most patients. But in the field of dentistry laser treatment is relatively unknown and “new”. Laser therapy is a very useful adjunct to dental treatment options. It enables the dentist to perform oral surgery with less post-operative discomfort to the patient. No scalpel blade is used and no bleeding occurs along the incision line. The laser light sterilise the tissue which in turn lessen the chance of post-operative infections. During root canal treatment the canals of the tooth are sterilised with the laser and immediately filled thus greatly improving the success rate of root canal treatment. Periodontal plastic surgery (cosmetic gum surgery) is performed with the laser and in some cases with out the need for local anaesthetic. Dr Eugene has undergone laser dentistry training and is equipped to provide Smile Connection Dental Studio patients with laser therapy.
